At the 2008 South Asian International Film Festival in New York (SAIFF),Little Box Of Sweets won the Grand Jury Prize Award for Best Music for Andrew T. Mackay's score and Best Emerging Talent for writer/director Meneka Das.
The film was also nominated for the Best Feature film.
The first annual awards ceremony was held on Saturday, October 25th, 2008 for filmmakers, producers and actors. Hosted by Rubina Shafi and held at the BLVD nightclub in NYC, the SAIFF Grand Jury presented 8 awards.
The Grand Jury, made up of 13 industry leaders screened over 50 films, documentaries and shorts to decide on the nominees and winners.
